Kind Notes mailbox

I've had this tin mailbox sitting around for about 2 years.  I was making my extra chores can and came upon the mailbox and decided to make it into a kind notes mail box for our family.  We can write kind notes to someone in the family and each week they will be delivered by the postman{e}.  Here's a quick tutorial.  I decided to post about this in the middle of making it so there aren't many detailed photos.

 Supplies:

double sided scrapbook paper
adhesive
dimensional stickers
label punches
ribbon
exacto knife
coordinating plain card stock
white cardstock
mailbox tin

Start by measuring your mailbox and cutting a strip of car stock to fit.  Lay paper over box and poke a hole where flag pins into the box. trim the paper so it slides down past the flag
Adhere the paper to the mailbox with really good adhesive.  I used glue dots {strip}. Then trim off the excess paper with an exacto knife.

Next, place the mailbox on the paper and cut it out like your tracing it.  Do this for both ends.
Put a lot of adhesive around the edges of the end pieces and adhere to the mailbox.
Be sure to put extra adhesive by the pull on the front of the mailbox.
Put adhesive on the ribbon and adhere it to the edges of the mailbox at trim. Like below.
Next use a square punch and punch out two square from the plain color card stock.  Adhere those with glue dots to the flag.
 I have a stamp set{office accoutrament} from stampin' up that i used on the flag with white embossing powder.  Then, punch another square label and print {kind notes-for someone special} on the white card stock and punch out with a long punch and adhere on the top of the square label.  Lastly, decorate with any cute dimensional stickers.

Extra Chores can

 This is our new {extra chores} can.  When kids are whining, throwing fits, back talking, etc.  They will have the privilege of choosing a chore they normally don't do.  A fun one I came up with was cleaning your sisters room.  {k} picked that out of the can when we were explaining how it will work, and boy was that bad.  She got so mad that I would put that in there.  So details...

1 tomato sauce small can
double sided scrapbook paper
adhesive {really good adhesive}
tag punches {mine are stampin up}
twine or ribbon
popsicle sticks
sharpie marker pen

{How to}
Measure the height of the can, in between the lid and bottom.  Cut a strip of 12 inch paper to that width and adhere to the can.  Overlap about 1/2 inch and trim off the excess paper.  Cut another piece of paper using coordinating paper or the reverse of other paper and cut the height to fit in the center.  Adhere like the first piece of paper, really well so it will last. Print {extra chores- when your naughty} label on white card stock and use a long curvy punch to punch out the label.  Use another square curvy punch and punch a label using coordinating colored card stock.  Adhere square label to center of can.  Adhere long label over the square label.  Tie a piece of twine or ribbon with a knot on the front of the can.  Trim excess ends.
Write extra chores on one end of the popsicle sticks with a sharpie marker.
I hope this will be useful for you, I will keep you posted on how it works for our family.
